nirvana cfa n bankers Chic :)

No, its in the right order.Though the most suited order it should have been is Bankers Chic->Honeymoon in Alaska->then probably Nirvana.CFA has been killing me past six months. It has choked his brains and sucked my patience through out.

This man who has never met Paro and Chandramukhi and stills speaks to himself with bearded cheeks. He looks at the ceiling and murmurs equity, bonds, liability risks, foreign bond, portfolio returns,liquidity.....

And then people say hey how is married life?
Few of happy soles around made me a member of depressed community also.I am sure every CFA's wife would have thought of leaving her husband at least once.

I was hooked to the laptop as never before.Watched movies as never before.I have heard music so loud as never before.I have sweat in the gym as never before.I was online as never before.I have cooked as never before.Yeah I did enjoy Bed Tea on weekends only to see him run to the library.I have commented on others blog like crazy.Did I mention,I updated my Resume with four new skills :)

I cooked such stuffs that the whole apartment would fill with aroma, with his study room door open wide open.I would call him-

hey dinner is ready.

after 5 mins

hey I am serving, wash your hands.

after 5 mins
Come on now,I am very hungry.

after 5 mins

I ll be having slowly ,join me.

after finishing Chapathi.

Can you come and serve Rice for me.

Yes ,I am coming.

Serves and goes back
After dinner,
Should I keep in the fridge now.

No,ill have at 11:30 ,I am solving question papers. hey its just the dinner we can have together, why cant you join for 10 min.

I know, but you see,I need to set the time and solve papers.

Tu hee to Humsafar hai meri....thoda adjust kar lo na.

Grrrr
Humsafar nahi ....
Yahan Hum nahi sirf 'I' Suffer ho rahi hai.

Good one ha,but mazzak nahi nahi,ab bahar jao.Koi nayi movie aayi kya, dekh lo.Let me study now.

I just wish Sanjay Thumma had some interactive sessions with me on youtube. Then I would have sat with him all day.Blame it on H4 visa or this Chartered Financial Analyst, for sure I was mad.

on the day of his six hours of paper

But you see, few things come to an end.Definitely the apartment does fill with some weird kind of smell now a days, but my stomach is full all the time with the kind of fusion cooking he does.I am served Bed Tea on weekends followed by Brunch,a walk in the evening and a mystery solved - Why newly married hold their hands and walk..exceptions are us.

this weekend on our Honeymoon trip..see ya guys,so what if its a fortnight before anniversary.

generation next ....

I could not enjoy this play until I landed US..It does make sense to go back to India.

Behind the scenes
Place: Two Americans at IBM, USA
Currency Conversion
Rate : INR 1 Rs = USD $ 100

The play begins....

Alex: Hi John, you didn't come yesterday to office?

John: Yeah, I was in Indian Embassy for stamping.

Alex
: Oh really, what happened, I heard that nowadays it has become very strict.

John
: Yeah, but I managed to get it.

Alex
: How long it took to get it stamped?

John: Oh, it was nasty man, long queue. Bill Gates was standing in front of me and they played with him like anything. That's why it got delayed. I went there at 2 am itself and waited and returned by 4pm.

Alex:
Really? In India, it is a matter of an hour to get stamped for USA

John:
Yeah, but that is because who in India will be interested in coming to USA man, their economy has been booming.

Alex:
So, when are you leaving?

John:
Anytime, after receiving my tickets from the client in India and you know, I will be getting a chance to fly Air-India. Sort of dream come true.

Alex:
How long are you going to stay in India.

John:
What do you mean by how long? I will be settled in India, my company has promised me that they will process my Hara Patta ..(green card)

Alex:
Really, lucky person man, it is very difficult to get a Hara Patta in India.

John: Yeah, that's why, I am planning to marry an Indian girl there.

Alex:
But you can find lots of US girls in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Mumbai.

John:
But, I prefer Indian girls because they are beautiful and cultured.

Alex:
Where did you get the offer, Hyderabad?

John:
Yeah, salary is good there, but cost of living is quite high, it is Rs. 1000/- for a single room accommodation.

Alex:
I see, that's too much for US people, Rs.1/- =$100/-. Oh God! what about in Bangalore, Mumbai?

John: No idea, but it is less than what we have in Hyderabad. It is like the world headquarters of software

Alex: I heard, almost all the Indians are having one personal Robot for help.

John:
You can get a BMW car for Rs. 5000/-, and a personal Robot for less than Rs.7500/-. But my dream is to purchase Ambassador, which costs Rs.2,00,000/- but has got a lovely design.

Alex: By the way, who is your client?

John: Subbarao and Apparao Associates, a pure Indian company, specialising in Embedded Software.

Alex: Oh, really, lucky to work in a pure Indian company. They are really intelligent and unlike American Bodyshoppers who have opened their Fly-by-night outfits in India. Indian companies pay you in full even when you are on bench.

My friend Paul Allen, it seems, used his bench time to visit *****, the most livable place in India, probably world. There you have full freedom and no restrictions. You can do whatever you want! I wonder how that state has perfected that system.

John:
Yeah man!, you are right. I hope our America also follows their footsteps.

Alex: How are you going to cope with their language?

John: Why not? From my school days I have been learning Hindi as my first language here at New York. At the Consulate they tested my proficiency in Hindi and were quite impressed by my cent per cent score in TOHILi.e. Test of Hindi as International Language.

Alex: So, you are going to have fun there.

John:
Yeah, I will be travelling in the world's fastest train, world's largest theme park, and the famous Bollywood where you can see actors like, Hrithik, Shah Rukh Khan and all. Esselworld is also near Bollywood.

Alex: You know, the PM is scheduled to visit US next year, he may then relax the number of visas.

John:
That's true. Last month, Narayana Murthy visited White House and donated Rs. 2000/- for infrastructure development at a Silicon Valley and has promised more if we follow the model of High-Tech City of Hyderabad. Bill Gates also got a chance of meeting him. Very lucky person.

Alex:
But, Indian government is planning to split Narayanamurthy's Infosys.

John: He is a hard worker man, he can build any number of Infosys like this. Every minute he is getting Rs. 1000/-. It seems, if you keep all his money converted as Rs. 100/- notes you can reach Pluto.

Alex:
OK, Good Luck John.

John:
Same to you Alex. And don't go to Consulate in a "Kurta Pyjama" because they will think you are too Indianised and may doubt you will never come back and hence your Non-Immigrant Visa may get rejected.

But don't forget to say " Namaste, aap kaise hai " to the Visa officer at Window 5. It seems he likes that and will not give you a visa if you don't greet him that way.

Let's hope for this day to come.........

First Interview in NYC on H4 Visa

at last I take the credit of attending an interview in NYC and my first interview for a non-technical position.I have been so much used to clicking

browse, open, submit, back to search sequence in Dice

apart from sitting in Jersey and applying for jobs in India through Monster and Naukri I spend hours together digging almost everything in craigslist. In India, especially the youth and middle class who work only for money would have hardly thought of spending few hours Volunteering here n there.

With no choice here I stepped into this or should I say "Looking for unpaid-internship" or "Summer Job" :P. As I browsed I found a requirement for Hindi language Instructor for Kids at Berlitz Learning Centre.
The excitement was much more than the thought of working few hours asking Tumhara naam kya hai ?.It was about dressing in a formal suite which was unpacked, with the bill from Bangalore Central.Hmm I could smell Bangalore. It was about wearing heeeeeels ,ya that tall and walking through Manhattan.Got an invitation and I was ready to meet them.

Woke up at around 6 in the morning, god its been ages since I last woke up to get ready to office. Was ready, looked left right, again left right, behind in the mirror. Not bad ha.One last call to him saying that "I am leaving home and will be back after six after I finish my work", Something I dream of saying it everyday.I take the path train, change to another and phew am I at the Rockefeller Centre.Though it was much more pleasant than the Mumbai local trains where I have to tell people around me that my stop is next and I need to stand near the door, before that ask which side would the stop arrive.

This learning institute was just beside the Radio City,so it wasn't tough to find.I fill out a form and wait.A 45 min orientation program for screening, all of us were thru and a whole day training was awaiting.I did have a Desi competitor ,sorry ABcD,lets exclude the C in it.Than the training began,it was so much fun, because I wasn't among just Americans but a Portuguese, two Italian,Chinese,Vietnamese,a ABcD and a trainer.First they had stories of why they were here.I didn't wanted o repeat the H4 visa saga so ...

We introduced telling about our name,a symbol,a favourite teacher, places we lived. We all spoke English but each of our accent differed and our reactions as well. Some games for kids, how to manage kids, teach them and how to react when they yell. Now I am firm about when to plan for kids.By afternoon the trainer taught us a new language. The biggest challenge as a language instructor is You need to teach it verbally, when a kid knows little or nothing to talk in this language. We are supposed to use expressions, tones without translating in any of their known language. The trainer took a paper, pen and mobile phone and started chanting each sentence thrice and some mix n match.Do not get shocked reading this.It went like this

Eedu oru penna?
Eedu oru kadalaasa?
Eedu oru phonna?
Eedu oru penna alingal phonna?

these were repeated by us as if we were in pre-school and passed the items asking the person beside and answering. It was very easy for me to pick but the rest ,it was amazing to hear Malayalam in their native accent. Then we all clapped saying Nalla Nalla...I can now be a Mallu teacher for kids

first surprise ohh wow she is a Mallu, very Dynamic and Americanised .Neither she looked like one, sorry no racism, but she didn't have trace of Desism, neither her name ,She came here when she was 10.No more surprised.

Time passed and it was six,it was time to discuss about my Visa status and not holding a work permit. You see everyone goes through tough times but having a H4 visa stamped on passport is much more than that.I cant describe.May be asking ,howz life after death?

It was this day I took time standing in front of the mirror,it was this day I was in hurry early morning so I don't miss this train,it was this day I was finding a support to hold in the train at rush hour.It was this day I was waiting desperately for a lunch and coffee breaks,it was this day when people asked my opinion,it was this day I thought oh I ll go home and then probably have a cup of tea before dinner.Out of 210 days in US so far ,it was just this ONE DAY on H4 Visa when I lived for myself.

Not all days are so Nalla ,Nalla

Believe me, for you all the techies on H4 visa, there is Life beyond Dice,Monster and Naukri, there is Craigslist.I know its like saying ,if you don't reach the horizon on this side, turn back and start walking, you will reach someday somewhere at least.

Whatever happens, lets think it happens for Nalla,Nalla.

Zeal brewed in my Coffee

last few days I have been very lazy n sometimes hopping between home-library-gym then back to home,I had to,and trying to keep my fingers off from laptop. The weather now a days is absolutely stunning neither I need to switch on the ac nor the heater.Greenery is all around and showers so mild, your hands not wanting to hold the umbrella.

sit n my armchair with zeal brewed in my coffee yet again with the same Indian Britannia Suji rusk from the Indian store. Need I say most of the time, anticipating whats next in store me.Seasons are changing so are my views and perception about Life

And Coffee doesn't taste the same anymore...................

Importance of Moment

Yeah ,I too have been given importance from pro-bloggers like Choco and LG .I am very thankful and wishing them good luck in return to come up with more spicy posts ahead.

Blogging has become the greatest demonstration of Freedom.

Apart, you get to read Viewed and Reviewed News,Tried and Tested Recipes, old and new jokes, some beautiful pictures some clicked, some borrowed.Stories true n private made public. Then some Do's and Dont's, techie stuff and many more unlimited access to nearly anything anytime.Reading all not so related stuff might sound boring but reading in itself is never a waste. It just adds to your GK like the one that I am going to post next.

Blogging for sure keeps your brain working all the time. You have to think constantly what next you want to post. Its for sure time consuming.

Some blog because it interests them, some blog because nothing else interests them

And then there are people who think browsing Blog ville is like having a World tour.

PS: You become Famous Blogger in two ways

"You blog because you are famous
or
You are famous because you blog"
At times the blogger after posting something he or she feels some lightness in their heart. They have bought out some or the other kind of emotion onto every post.

Most of the time the idea of posting something comes to me while I am engaged in something else. The need to post it arises because its interesting for me to read it again n again for myself or just have a copy of my own mindset at that instance and off course needs a lot of patience to post it and make it look neat n tidy.

Then you get to know people with sweet little Gestures from Distance friends
And dont forget to click on these sites..Choco's stories seem to be far better than 3 hrs 70 mm movie and I am sure you ll try out adding that extra texture of spice to your food through Taste of Mysore

But I still promise myself I am not going to make Blogging my Full-Time job as such but definitely entertain myself reading others :) so you all can keep pouring more awards in return.

Border Cuisine from North Karnataka

It is not difficult to blend with people of different region and language as much as it is with people having different Food habits. But a Foodie like me could say-No problem.Send me to a Buffet lunch,I am the first to pick the plate and last to keep it,no its not over, take another plate for desert to finish.

You show me a knife at 12 in the midnight and try to scare me,I ll snatch it from you and start cutting onions.I ll wake up only when tears start rolling down my cheeks and then probably land on my taste buds which then rings like an alarm for me.I have that extra energy for cooking any time.

Well, stories apart yet another story here.I grew up in Karnataka and Maharashtra and I belong to Hubli-Belgaum and Bangalore is my second hometown even though I know I may never get an opportunity to visit Bangalore to barge into a restaurant. The only reason I regret marrying a Maharastrian Kannadiga.Yeah it sounds silly but only a Foodie like me can make such statement.

Though our food habits are pretty much similar its noticeable when we visit an Indian grocery store. My hands stretch for MTR masala's and his towards the Chitale Bandu Farsaan. He has stories of eating Sabudana Vada and Vada pav at Sadashiv peth,Pune, then I have memories describing Mallavalli Tiffin centre near Laal Bhag and Mysore Road.So now you know what cooks in my Kitchen, Border Cuisine.

I had always restricted myself from writing recipes in this blog so that I can engage myself in cooking rather than posting it but Meals on Wheels at "Taste Of Mysore" has ignited me to post this today .You can find the event hosted along with 200 hundred other mouth watering recipes at her site

http://www.tasteofmysore.com/2009/03/update-on-meals-on-wheels-event.html
and
http://www.tasteofmysore.com/2009/02/swc-meals-on-wheels.html

So here it is - Big brother of Chapaathi

Dhapaathi

Ingredients: Flour Mixture
1 cup Jowar flour
1/4 cup Besan
1/4 cup Rice flour
1/4 cup Wheat flour

2 Table Spoons sesame seeds
Salt to taste

Masala:
2 Table spoon Red chilly powder
2 Cloves Garlic

1 Tea spoon Coriander powder
1 Tea spoon cumin powder

1 Tea spoon Garam Masala

Dry roasted Curry leaves

Coriander leaves as required

Fry the above Masala and grind to powder or paste if adequate coriander leaves are used.Mix this paste to Flour mixture and water ,knead it like chapathi dough.Roll out round shapes like Chapaathi, the outer edge might tear because of Jowar flour,Dust the extra flour used while rolling.Idealy these should be patted with palm to make them very thin.Spread it over a hot Tawa, take a piece of cloth and dip it in water and squeeze out the excess water.Pat the upper surface of the Dhapaathi with this wet cloth.

Dont pile them over one another after cooking.Let them breathe for a while.

These can be stored for 3-4 days and can be served with any chutney or just curd.

You will find this in the kitchens of Maharashtra n Karnataka Border, where the temperature is usually too high. The usual curd rice or Bisebele baath are omitted as they get spoiled soon.

And to make it more refreshing we have it with spring onions,Menthe Topla-Raw Methi leaves,Shenga Hindi-Groundnut chutney, thick curd even Malai,Madaki kaal Usli-curry made of sprouts and many more variations. Enjoy it holding it in your palm and eating and not in your plate.

School chale hum

Few of my school friends spent a few hours remembering those good old school days at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Hubli. Unfortunately girls didn't make it.This is what we miss when outside India.
Thanks to Tulsi who was kind enough to send me few pictures.Everyone of us are scattered now but orkut is something which has bought together all of us.Most of us might have missed meeting school friends but never miss scrapping on orkut.

and here is my first bench at the window. Those were the days when we just reached adolescence and when the senior class would have games period and they would walk across the window, our eyes would become wider to see which Bhaiya would give smile to you.School romance was healthy and cute.

Cant forget the Nick names me and Kaveri had kept for Harish and NagaSairam -Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The frequent on-off game of the ceiling fan with the boys. That ego to ask a Home work book from a boy.The rakhi day when all 19 girls tied rakhi to the rest 17 boys and eagerly waiting what would be the gift next day.Obviously it was heavy for them all we got is radium stickers, ball pens, powder box, coffee bites.

Through out my school days and even after that I have observed something common between all the students passing out of Kendriya Vidyalaya. They ought to have some kind of Tashan that they are studying the CBSE syllabus.Even when I was into my first job, many of my PG mates used to comment ..kya ba ,tum central school walo ka jastich dimakh??

Dropping compass box with our elbow to grab the attention of the whole class in Desphande Madam's Hindi class and eating grapes in middle of the English period.Imitating teachers and solving the same math problem twice in your test and fooling Kumbhar Sir. Enacting the story of "Umbrella Man"
Nick names to Library Sir-Jondgya(Coakroach) and Chudail for our first Computer Madam and what not ?
And this was from Hill top-Nruptunga Betta when I landed Hubli after 10 yrs just to see the view of my school from top. Some PT periods were just begged for a trekking this hill and that would mean happily missing the second period and extending sometimes to third period to clean up the muddy white uniform.

Nostalgic comments are welcome

Recession Race- Revise a story with new theme

Its time not for "Survival of the Fittest" but "Survival of the Smartest".

Its time to revise a good old story today.I don't have to narrate it,the picture
below says it all.We have a different theme for the Hare and Tortoise story to our kids.I am sure they will grasp the moral quickly than we did.

The headline on Wall Street Journal:With This Debt,I Thee Wed - Economies just don't destroy jobs and wealth,They can tear apart marriages.

Got a message from friend -come online.I logged in to hear the same raaga,I am fed up,no jobs, this daridra recession has to be there now only or what ?I am so depressed, how you pass your time.

Called up a friend who is going to India.hey hi so going to India, what marriage plan and all is it.No ma nothing like that, recession time no!

Later in the afternoon, I log in to WebMD and phew I read 10 ways to protect your heart from the tolls of Recession.

He comes home and asks me daily ,hows your job search going on? I am aint searching anymore. When there is a hope of the US economy to recover in the last quarter of this year,a too rapid recovery, might result in second recession next year says the conference board.Predictions and uncertainities have become a part of life.

Jasti Jasti andre India ke payana. While Obama plans to help his children to compete the jobs in future with children in Beijing and Bangalore,I say We are already prepared.

Preethige ondu Bengluru,Snehake ondu Mysoru
Aasege ondu Beluru ...

Matige ondu Mangalaroo,Attige ondu Koluru
Rottige Ondu Raichur...

Yelanoo namma ooru,yellaru namma avvaru
aadakke bayi bitare,Indiane koluvaru....

Videsh-Worst Remake of Kannada Magic Folk Tale: Naagmandal

She set the Fire on Earth and I am here to splash some Water on her newly going to be released movie -Videsh.Its based on an Indian mythological folktale on a King Cobra.

Mehta might have gone very jobless in this recession time,so she picked up a hero from a stage play -cost cutting u know,a story which she got attracted and doesn't reveal the story writer openly.

Mehta's Magic failed to transform a good old Folktale into a NRI based movie in Canadian winter.Nothing worst than this.Even though it has all the characters of the Kannada movie Naagmandal written by Girish Karnad and directed by T S Nagabharana, the original story is hardly showcased into her movie. The intensity of the characters are not visible enough.

The supporting character in Naagmandal,B Jayshri is replaced by a Jamaican, a laundry girl. Now its up to you to read the rest of the post.

A girl flies from Ludhiana to Canada to join her husband and her family. The story in Kannada revolves around just the two husband and wife, Mehta has introduced the joint family which we never understand who belongs to whom until the movie ends.

The entire North Karnataka village is replaced by Brampton,Naagmandal has few beautiful Kannada folk songs which actually expresses the desire of woman. The character Appana played Prakash Rai is best at his aggressive performance. Here Rocky- Vansh Bhardwaj might have done justice to Mehta but not the character. The Kannada movie is all about Supernatural powers and a woman wanting to seek the pleasures of man.The Disco girl Preity Zinta plays a more of a abused wife and fails to express the human need in her.SRK and Rani's Paheli was also accused for having the story line.

Naagmandal has been played in varoius langauges from Manipuri to Japanese and all over the world,It is one of the best works of Girish Karnad.

Mehta could have picked some other story for her NRI twist in tale. She is an perfect example of how to get Global recognition without doing much. She managed to target the Indian audience in Canada which is only Punjabi's, a Indian myth story for people in West, a resemblance of NRI girl in Namesake which did make some news in the past.

Sleeping Partner

For all those who landed here with a hush gush sorry, I haven't picked this word from Sex and City, but from the Business dictionary.

My study today involved the facts and formulae on the following.
Chapter 13 : Partnership, Ratio of Division and Gains, Working and Sleeping Partner.

When two or more than two persons run a business jointly, they are called Partners and the deal is known as Partnership.A partner who manages the business is known as working partner and the one who simply invests the money is a Sleeping partner.

Muaaaaaaaaaaaaah.Enjoy !!!

Woman- Not a substance to debate on

Yet another day to be posted about -Woman's Day. Never wanted to as I always think what it would if I post, about Nina Kidwai and other woman achievers in India in business and politics,No.It will be something what I will achieve some day.It could be anything ,graduating with an MBA or running a restaurant my way or being a homemaker and yet not loosing my mental balance.

Three generations debate on Woman.
Elders around me think I am half way through my achievement ,yes I am married and a complete achievement when I ll have baby within a year of marriage ,uuufff.

who and why ?

having added few lines of html gives me details what search engine terms were used to stumble upon my blog.

Here are few of the terms frequently used.
  • h4 to h1,h1 and cos,I-94, stamping documents, H1 stamping without job,h4 to h2 in canada
  • h4,depression, life of h4, love life of h4 , depressed life of h4
  • satyam+praveen, satyamite going to femina miss india
  • smitha sindagi ,till today it was my dad and friend of mine
  • tanha tanha raatein
but today I noticed someone searching my name and probably my whereabouts and I bet they know me partially.

It said "smita sindgi Bangalore wipro" searched from Bombay. For sure he/she knows I had a short stint in wipro but misspells my name completely.A punite searching smitha sindagi Bangalore, very precise I must say but doesn't know anything else.

Who the hell are these ..............Why cant they leave me message?
So much of importance to me today ha ha

PS : No doubt "depressed life h4 " term was used extensively to drop here. And last week a gal dropped here searching these terms then she rolled down and read the wipro, canada post, exchanged few comments to find out that we were in the same project, having common collegues, how and when we landed here and much more.We neither worked with each other or know personally but something common today bought us close.Google and blogging for sure has made the world smaller.

Dosa : My new status Symbol

sitting in my arm chair here in US ,browsing all the sites where ever I find the word Bangalore,Kannada,Hubli,Dose, idli, Malleswaram, Darshini`s, udupi garden, kaapi, CCD etc etc. A sudden thought why not create a Bangalore Darshini ambience here at home. All determined to make Dosa as crispy as it could be.I am such a crazy foodie that every weekend I just jump started my day having Dosa at different restaurants a while ago.Initially I felt a bit weird going and standing alone in restaurant and ordering a very fat menu for myself in Bangalore.

four years ago I had a company every weekend at restaurants, yeah I used to meet alliances at restaurants. So a evening coffee and sometimes idli, vada, dosa accompanied them. After three years, all the alliances in North Karnataka got unqualified and hardly anybody left ,only now I realize I miss them all today.By now I knew all the directions, bus routes to every restaurant in Bangalore. So in the afternoons I would just catch a bus to some place mostly Raagiguda and help myself with Mysore bonda right in front of the temple. My friends asked
where are you coming from ?
Jayanagar

oh huduga na?
eellapa baree Bonda today (Oh boy is it,No only Bonda).
I remember going to halli mane in Malleswaram all alone from btm layout.
Serve me a Dosa and I will tell you from where you bought: Vidyarthi Bhavan,Udupi garden,A2B,Woody`s or MTR.So it took 3 long days to prepare this and results here.
After all this hard work,I served this Dosa to a person who only knows " Dosa, Masala Dosa". If I prepare Kaali dose/Bene dose/ Bread Dose/Rava Dose/ it would still be just "Dosa" for him, and here is the conversation.Forget about kempu chutney,Hasiru chutney and Saagu

Me: Bantu Bantu Bisi Bisi Mysore Paper Masale Dose (Here comes the Hot Mysore Paper Masale Dose)
He: Looks good eh? Opened the Dosa and an expression with mouth wide open. Aloo subzi , aray yaar calories and coconut on top of is it?
Sambhar
,looks spicy
eh?
Wow coconut chutney ,oh No,ghee ka tadka.

Ayyo
bangloreans cannot cook without coconut or whaat.

Me: Swalpa cashew nut pestu hakinee
He: What?
dont apply ghee for me.
Me: aray dosa crispy agangila matta, amele helabyadree? (it wont be crispy, don't tell me later)
He: aray chalta hai re,tu bana rahee na kaphee hai.
Me: nahi kaphi nahi hai.You are not enjoying it the way it has to be.

He: Aray kha raha hoo na,very nice Dosa ha,full marks today.
Me: Noooo, its "Mysore Paper Masala Dosa"
He: ah baba paper dosa I know.v good ha, v good !
Me:Here one more cone shaped ,MTR style.I am making strong coffee now

To: Mom n Dad

Marriages they say are made in heaven, but how if people come from heaven to earth, such are my parents.Every year this day comes ,I wish them like any other daughter and then forget. This year I am a daughter and somebodies wife. This year I wish them along with a promise of nurturing my married life, like theirs.

A family full of joy they are today, a family which woke up to accomplish our dreams of last night.A family which went beyond building own personnel lives to give out more value time and energy for their children ,for their home.We grew with a sense of trust and desire.

You let us experience, try and gain confidence. All I can give you both today is happiness, in words.

When I had stories like "I ditched him,he ditched me" ,you said that's one more psychological case study for us and I lived better the next day,

You were best when you said "Who is next ? ".

I remember how you both fought just to fill a bottle of water for me while I was all set to catch a bus. That was a fight of millennium yet the best moments to remember and laugh.

We've cried in both pain and happiness, but the fact is,when tears rolled out of happiness, they were actually more painful,Isn't it?

I know I would have pointed my finger at both of you at times and argued endlessly ,only to do what you both wanted me to.Today I point out the same finger ,come hold it take me for long walk ,lets keep walking and walking ......................

Wish You both a happy Wedding Anniversary.

a draft kept pending from last year

Its the 30th anniversary for them. Here are Warm Wishes from your daughter sitting in this snowy Winter of Ottawa.I am really missing them a lot ,Had I been with them today in Hubli,I would cook all of the dishes they liked and probably send them for a late night movie.

All that I can do is call them and wish over a phone.Yeah not to miss I sent them some online flowers and ladoo.I just clicked clickhubli.com.I take this opportunity to Thank Deepali who is sitting in hubli and arranging everything I want. I took her number from this site ,called her up from Ottawa and requested to send them excatly on the same day ie March 1st and not to delay.I also had a personal request

Deepali, can you also gift my mom a saree. She said its not in the list and she cannot..

Please Deepali ,I am missing them a lot.

No I cannot ,The item is not in the list,How would you pay for that ,Ok, what if they don't pay me for that gift.

I will make sure they pay you for saree.I also mentioned my dads name and address,I think she managed to find out some detail's and she trusted me Thanks a lot Deepali.A cotton saree of range 500 and above should do.

PS:She did this and all reached my house on Mar 1st at 3pm as a big surprise. My parents shot even a video of this to show me how the scene was that day at my house. After a few months when I met them at Hubli,My mom was in full swing with new blouse already stitched and wore it to show me.

Toxic Fumes

Valentine day is over and probably Mutalik also would have finished counting the cha..
I happened to face this below situation and have been involved in endless arguments over a week so thought why not ask the public.I know this would be the worst and funniest question of all times.

You are celebrating V day with your Valentine watching a good movie and some good food. One of you farts in between unconsciously so loud that the other persons feels he/she missed some dialogue in between and even wants to rewind back. How would you react?

a. You say "Disgusting and sooo indecent and drop the plate with food in sink.
b. Just ignore and say Sameeeeer ,Hawa ka Jhonka.....
c. You wait for a opportunity you could do louder than...
d. Sit and deeply think "Did I choose a wrong partner"

Had we been a American couple ,by this time we would have got separated.Thank God we are Indians
PS: Why fart and waste when you can burp and taste

Evolution of L.O.V.E

To those Loved and Lost

When the whole world is busy surprising their valentine with gifts , Indians being busy at pub in pink, I would like to wish all those who once were in love but now left with just the haunting memories .Today someone in the pub would have joined you because this day that year was special for them, greet them too. They had expressed their feelings from inner guts but for some reason they could not be committed throughout the relation or refusal.

They too had chosen the best rose in the market, they too had read loads of Archie s cards to find which one reads their heart to him or her. They too had have given several missed calls until they could speak louder than their heartbeat. They too would have have passed by your way just to make the day more special.

They too would have scribbled and crumbled papers before he/she got their first love letter .They too would have blushed at very first eye contact. They too are drinking like you in the pub,its just that hey are in past ,you are in present. They too had a melody to sing their heart ,only the lyrics were messed up.Don’t ask the person who loves someone but ask the person who has lost someone.Martin Luther

Paralyzing H4 Visa

Read in a friends blog, what you search in google is your state of mind.I searched "Life of H4 " today and I was directed to all the depressed communities of H4 advising Do that and this.

Visiting DMV/MVC topped the list.Yeah I already visited MVC last Monday and have started reading the booklet. The experience was not pleasant though. But before that I had to get a waiver letter of not having a SSN ,ok that again reminds you that you are on Dependent Visa.A visit couple of days before kept me wait for 3 long hrs at Social administration office and when I took the turn to meet the officer she says "Lady you have taken the wrong token ". My Indian brain was working so I had pulled the other tokens as well, still that meant waiting for 2 more hours for my turn, I quit .On second successful visit I realized how long is my "Full name".The office lady chopped the last letter "a" from my name.I felt my name was "Americanized".It read Smith.I exchanged few arguments and said to skip the 11 letter middle name, my fathers name and retain MY full name.I proved ,Our brains works better .

OK you gotcha: The 11 letter name also proves I am a south Indian :)

Things like cooking, better recipes ,knitting, vacuuming, painting and blogging followed the list. But I did all this even before ,why I had to come on H4 to do all this. There is one lady on H4 who became famous too.Yeah I know H4 and Famous just don't go together.

video

Shivali Shah, Immigration Advocate & Attorney describes H4 as "These are people who are being brought in [to the United States]only in the most basic functions of women: housewives, baby makers and sex partners" .

But I am sure most of the wives of educated H1 spouses are pretty alerted of the consequences before they arrive on H4.We can only be depressed ,we cannot blame our H1 spouses. It was we who imagined our life to be rosy rosy or at least to make their life so.You can only bang your head to the wall .Cribbing over H4 is for the career oriented girl, you are happy if you dreamt of being a Homemaker, but then this happiness will drift if our H1 spouses start making fun of what we are and just point out of what we aren't?.

More on H1 spouses will be posted soon....

Celebrate V Day with Pink Chaddi

Yes you all heard it right. Its not Red, Pink is the color of this season.Agitated people have come up with Pink Chaddi Campaign.

Innovation at its best.It happens only in India..I first thought the address belongs to some guys of Hubli and wondering whats wrong with these Hubli guys ...now I know its Mutalik`s address.Have been propagating this link since morning and see what raghu says

yaarigi gottu...yaro chaddi marovna address idru irabahudu (who knows it cud be the Chaddi shopkeepers address itself)

But a ladies pink chaddi, why not a men`s underwear. Didn't these people find something else.I am ashamed to use this logo and at the same time want to join the fight.More on http://thepinkchaddicampaign.blogspot.com/

And for those who still wonder whats V Day,check out what ilesh has to say http://ilesh-artandfunwithpicture.blogspot.com/2009/02/valentines-day-generated-in-gujarat.html

Pyar Nakko, Pagaar Do

Not long back when I would eagerly wait for the month end for my company to pour in some money into my bank account. Not that I spent lavishly but that would just increase the amount and some times an extra digit would mean calling up my family and make sure they updated the diary of "Family assets ".Yes I never spent lavishly but I always had enough cash in hand to spend without a second thought.A facial or haircut at Lakme, some outfits bought without checking the actual price tag, expensive dinner with friends or a movie at PVR.

Post marriage,a couple has checkpoints inserted everywhere.Bills are safely maintained till the refund or exchange period is not over. Now I know which card would fetch me 15% discount, which credit card has better cash back.I have a compared price lists of every item in the Grocery store.I type craigslist more than Google. Now I stay away from gossips so that I dont run short of minutes in my mobile instead I send a weekly mail to everybody.I collect all the flyer's in the mail box.

Friends in Forum Mall at Banglore are way beyond ,I now do window shopping that too all alone.I told Goondya ,this situation is leaving me very disturbed. He said, aray mera pyar mil raha hai, tuje aur kya chahiye..its priceless and smiled at me.

I banged the door and came out, peeped in and made my words clear "Pyar nakko,Pagaar do" .Money sometimes acts as a Tranquilizer.I do get pocket money now but I realized the fun I had was because I earned. No wonder the visa is also called Dependent Visa.

Anso tere nikle to aakh mere ho
Dil tere dhadke to dhadkan meri ho
Khuda kare hamari Mohabbat itni gehri ho
Naukri tu kare aur pagaar meri ho.

Does anyone of you on H4 or those who left their job for the new family is facing a similar problem, come lets join hands and party together.Views from men will be most appreciated

When they are worries about the Tainted brand name glued in their resumes, there is hope of sunshine from the overseas companies.Though there are calls urging satyamites to stay with company, thousands of resumes were circulated in no time, the private job agencies are now fishing these jobless satyamites probably with the greed of lesser billing rate.Tarangana describes a Satyamite saying

Pictures talk when people arent around

Today I am in process of keeping my self a bit busier, Yeah I am deleting all the unwanted pics of others dumped in my laptop and those which are actually mine but have failed to capture my smile and neither it has any memory floating behind them.

I always love to be either side of the camera. I enjoy capturing pictures of others and the smile I bring on their face after seeing the photos and one statement they make " Sahi hai yaar , tu toh achi photographer hai " which means you are a good photographer and I have to reply back "Yaar tere photos mast aate hai,you have got a photogenic face".

Most of the Pictures are for memory, few for some mischief .We girls take at least 20 pictures in the same pose and delete it only after viewing and reviewing not in camera but after a lot of twisting and turning once we have transferred to the laptop.

The first gift for me was the digital camera from my first Diwali salary. It was with me until I got married and now I have gifted it to bro assuming that my husband would be owning one but surprisingly he has survived without a camera for 7 yrs here in US. Now this adds one more difference between me and my husband.Unfortunately I do not have any good pics I have taken so far, they are safe at my parents place.

Most of the occasions when I want to capture a self portrait, I lack a good photographer, its very rare that the person along with me knows the basic fundas of capturing a photo that too with a simple Digital camera and when I have good photographer, they do so much of nakra to mail me, after I open them they have their name imprinted at some corner of the photo and sometimes it says copyright. Below are some pictures explaining what had to be taken and whats wrong with the pic.Its really hard to explain others how you want your photo to be. Its annoying, in spite of explaining what and how should be the x y co-ordinates,angles, flash, zoom etc.

Concentrate on the theme ..what for you capturing the picture. The First is pickle jar in which I have put my head from behind but no body even thought of pointing out I have my scarf and cap over me.....The Second one,the idea was I had pretended to be kept on table without my lower body, but my dear friend ,you have missed the lower half of the photo itself.....then It was all about standing in front of the board which said" Lake on the Mountain".....That's how picture looks. The next two were taken in Ripley`s believe it or not, the difference between the two pics,The first one is shot pointing the Ripley's,The second one god knows, what that finger stands for,the next no flash, no retake also.I asked a dear friend why don't you take a picture of mine with this lovely kid.And she got it right.I want to throw their camera`s on their head now.
  • If you are short in height, don't take full length pictures, restrict it to Ur chest or if you are lean then a bit lower:-)
  • If your features aren't so bright ,you don't have to pay for a extra broad smile :-)
  • Use the flash ,it has come along with your camera. No extra charges are included in your utility bill.
  • When you take full length ,please avoid capturing the toes with shoes and sandals.
  • When you are in a group where there is a considerable difference in height among all spread out a bit, lie down, sit.Spare the shorter ones, don't stand and give that huggie huggie pose.We know the gehrayee of your dosti and your are not the tall femina miss India either.
  • You don't have to move aside or stand in the corner to capture the scene behind u, let the subject be in the middle.
  • If you want to capture a large scenic view or tall building ,let not the subject go and stand rubbing his ass to it.Let the camera move farther so the building fits in the frame and let the subject come nearer to the camera so that the face is clear enough and the scene is spread behind.
  • You don't have a photogenic face, change it to sepia or Black & White. It really works.
  • If someone shy`s away with camera, click as many,as fast you can, without their knowledge, collage them later.
  • If the picture you have clicked doesn't come good at first shot, retake immediately blindly don't hand over the camera back,Moments don't repeat.

These are the tricks my dad shared with me.I am not amateur photograph but I am sure most websites may not have these simple tricks.Anymore you know please feel free to comment I will add them here.It excludes post photography editing tricks.

Advani kee e-dvani

Pyare Advani ji writes he is exited at 81 errr I mean for his next Election campaign and says:

My philosophy in this matter is simple: anything that works, deserves to be welcomed. In my own political life spanning six decades, I have enthusiastically embraced every new communication technology - from the early simple Casio digital diary to i-pod and i-phone.

U heard right,L K Advani ji has now an account of his own in this blog ville. And also the most oldest blogger in India.More than his posts, the comments are interesting to read. Some say Aadarniya Advaniji, some say Pranam Advani, one more just struggles to say Payr lagoo Advaniji and a S/W Engineer asking him a project.Yahin baaki tha Advani ji.

Raju ke Kaju

Just when the world is still talking on Spirit of Indian and the 26/11 Adventurism, Raju Anna knocks the media with his Spicy Andra curry and this time holding 53000+ lives, as it claims. Believe it or Not

Not long before, the very mentioning of Hyderabad bought Satyam into picture to all the IT Engineers and not a surprise it will continue. Satyam is not the first or the only company involved in the scams. The difference is it could murder thousands of so so settled fortunes in already impacted Indian outsourcing Industry.

His resignation blew the Satyam Share price from Rs 175 to Rs 20 today. His statement says"The differential in the real profits and the one reflected in the books was further accentuated by the fact that the company had to carry additional resources and assets to justify higher level of operations—thereby significantly increasing the costs ” and Anna handled the Chicken and egg problem very wisely.Or is it that he is trying to handle the situation now..Think Think.Curry has has begun to boil now...

Tadka on the Curry:Mr. Mynampati says, company did not know the whereabouts of Mr.Raju, but that it assumed he was still in Hyderabad.

Le lo... Le lo... raste ka maal saste maine....Satyam ka price sirf dus rupayee ( /dozen)

I dont want to die a "Copy"

Last week I happened to watch The Dark Knight with my husband.I enjoyed the movie. But then just before we clicked buy I was persuading him to watch a Kannada movie with me.It didn't work though. So to make up that rejection of not watching a Kannada movie was probably clubbed with home delivered Italian food of my choice.

We always try to do a patch work for anything we didn't do for others especially to all those with whom we share some sort of belonging-ness .Its about making others happy while you genuinely want to do what you want. This is because you want to be accepted by your near and dear ones.Because you know they trust you.To keep their trust you are not honest with yourself. They have expectations which you have to stand by.

And today I am just realizing I have never been honest to myself and in disguise ,neither anyone around me.I always camouflage with others interest. This has left a gap between me and the real me.Today I realize the essence of being myself.Today life would have not been the same if I were myself ,probably better or worst.I haven't thought about it right now.

My folks always discussed about being one what others want. They always had their Yes and No with explanation like any other parent.I have always been listening to them till date for any major decision I take.I was always told to sacrifice something if that decision of mine would not do any good to my family or anybody around irrespective of whether I was willing or not.I am today what they wanted, they are happy and so I am.

I don't regret for being what others wanted, it was a method of protection,a level of comfort or good human nature.

Today I am happy but not content.Because I am still doing what others want.I am still accommodating my happiness in theirs.Someday I want to be happy for what I have done in my life.Every body is stuck in their lives. And someday they will die only with what they have with them, their status, their assets. But their decisions will always stay alive with us.I want to learn with my mistakes and have my own success stories because I trust myself and my ability. It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for something you are not. There are admirable potentialities in every human being. Believe in your strength and your truth. Learn to repeat endlessly to yourself. "It all depends on me."- Andre Gide

But these words don't stand anywhere to a woman who is not independent.Being yourself with an Indian culture in the background is simply not simple. Those social stigmas are really hard to break. There is a time table which we have to follow everyday. There wouldn't have been a single day when my mother woke up from bed to cook ,only because she was hungry.

We have one life, lets not leave it for others to plan anymore. This feeling of not being myself is pestering me a lot. It gives me a feeling that I have been missing something.I keep reading the description of my blog again and again.I close my eyes to sleep to dream what I want and to wake up the next morning for being what others want.

I was born original,I don't want to die a "copy". -Andre Gide

Some 'ctrl' s not in our life

Just another pick straight from my Inbox , the last one really made my day.

5 minutes ago you were traveling to office at 80 kmph, in your brand new car. Now you are traveling to hospital at double the speed in an Ambulance, you wish there was 'undo (ctrl + Z)' in life!

You are already late, and your key is missing, you wish there was find tool (ctrl+F)' in life!

You are a bankrupt, after investing in some weird business, you wish there was 'rebuild all' in life!

The train is so crowded that you cannot get anywhere near that handsome guy at the other end, you wish there was 'zoom & view full screen' in life!

One day you realize that you are turning bald, you wish there was cut and paste '(ctrl + X)/ (ctrl + C)' in life!

And the best one is ..........

After marriage you realize that there is bound to be a mismatch, you wish there was an valuation period or at least a 'sample download or a demo version'!

New Start to Old habits

Come New year, Blogs are poured with resol -utions.I always wondered why wait for new year and what ? a resolution to keep yourself in form.I never made any so far but probably this year I am running out of activities ,so thought why not.I spent a few hours on this to what would be in my list but it didn't work ,probably today I feel content about everything except that I am searching for a job, let me keep it off from my mind for a while.

For me its just the time to look back the year and how much I accomplished so far.Yeah I`ve accomplished waaaay more than I thought! I know for the facts that

Friends and Family know How great I am doing.
Feel so accomplished, actually lived up to all my silly good intentions.
I can devote whole of the time to myself.
I wasn't among the victims of the Mumbai Blasts though I am engulfed in the pain and grief of my country people.
I keep mailing to all my good old friends and actually get a quick reply from them.
All the mails in my Inbox are not junk.
2008 was really special for me and my family.

Smitha wishes you all a warmer and vibrant year ahead. But having resolutions will add one more post to my blog alwa?

The Ghazini Formula

Ghazini being released this week, guess what most of the Indians would be Googling now ,our own Desi Mike Tyson, Aamir Khan's fitness formula.

I wonder a body and look like his would inspire loads of stuff in a country like India.Right from TV commercials, Fitness centers, hair saloons and soon this Ghazini formula would become patent.Thats the new marketing strategy he used.Imagine-

The IT management team would introduce "The Ghazini thinking and Methods" instead of Lean Methods in Six Sigma. That would imply to all short term projects anywhere from 8 to 10 months. And the strategies would be changing every month like his diet for better productivity.

All the Restaurants would have have one added item in their menu: The Ghazini salad off course with extra toppings of two more eggs with no yolk. There would also be a Combo with Ghazini Protein shake.

The next sign of being engaged would be tatooing her number on their body. That would be the way to tell folks that you are in love and a little twist would be the girl paying for the compensation to erase it.

Every damn person would be having fitness opinions and those who were already into it would say "Aray yaar usko waise dikne ke liye paisa milta hai re,uska kaam hee wahi hai".Well there dies the Ghazini formula.

And here we have Ghazini wishing you Merry Christmas.

Javari Weekend hangover

A big Thank you note for Savita and Mohan for the great fun filled not to miss the word -a total Javari weekend.Yes the importance of being Javari is not limited to food anymore,I only realized it here.

The Engayi she made for dinner was enough to give me at home feeling. Then came the Paddu and Kobri chutney followed by Menthi byali. This javari food needed to be digested well,so there were unlimited sessions of kannada slanguange ,few kannada songs for desert.

In these four days ,I visited Gandhi market@Bijapur,Solpaur,the GIT campus, poori usal, camp porohit and ....Addi ella pa...

Stories stretched from our childhood at Solapur, the adi-midi-kida game, the dance at Ganapthi festival in the colony, holi colours, having only one way bus tickets and taking a long walk back home fearing to ask the extra bus charge for a friend.Your visit to my house at Hubli in 7th stnd the dubki in Makutta pond, photo session at Pattadkal, exchanging frocks and then along gap for pretending to be busy probably for 6 yrs.

And a sudden call probably to reveal that we are into engineering and stressing more on our branch and the only topic to be discussed on phone. While she was studying in Solapur, I was in Bijapur.A planned visit, back again taking the luna to Navi peth for shopping, tasting every drop of tear having the Theeka Chinese Bhel at Park stadium .Sharing the same presentation for 8th semester, the Wireless local loop sessions as if Telecommunication was in our blood and we are the the ones to support the family interests.I even borrowed your ppt.

My parents shifted to Solapur from Mumbai,Preparing for GRE and then plans for enrolling to German language classes. The bahana of combined study, quizzing with RS Agarawal but actually discussing the girlyhood late night.

And then came the time for serious job search, leaving our house.Your choice was Pune, mine was Bangaloru.Days passed by.You too arrived Bangaloru and lives continued with our jobs.We only met to set my kitchen in my PG,a year later we celebrate Diwali at your house in Bangaloru.

Not in touch for one whole year ,we get married unable to attend each other's and finally arrive to NJ ,spending our weekends, me trying to sink with Jai Karnataka husband of yours and you with Jai Maharashtra husband of mine.now exchanging mixies, Tava, recipes, planning for driving licences and what not. This all seems to be a self edited story.

Anyways all we have to say is : US ge bandu kallu thindu, osaka ***** ayithoo.

I am still not able to come out of the last weekend hangover.By the way when are meeting next and whats in the menu ? Lagoo matta karee le pa maneega .

Guys life is really strange and World is small.Never miss a chance to meet a person you know when he is nearer to you.You would have quarreled on silly issues, stole his compass box in school, bitched about each other, would have ignored him or her before or probably married his/her friend.I still have many friends here in NJ,who keep complaining about the distance between our ouses here, (don't you remember Electronics city and ITPL) or explaining having other Indian friends around them.

We dont have to plan for five course meal , A cup of tea, a little gossip and the prefix le in Javari style is all I need.

See what Orkut-o-loger has in store for me

10 December 2008

I love you

I know I stand in line, until you think you have the time
To spend an evening with me
And if we go someplace to dance, I know that theres a chance
You wont be leaving with me
And afterwards we drop into a quiet little place
And have a drink or two
And then I go and spoil it all, by saying something stupid
Like: I love you
I can see it in your eyes, that you despise the same old lies
You heard the night before
And though its just a line to you, for me its true
It never seemed so right before
I practice every day to find some clever lines to say
To make the meaning come through
But then I think Ill wait until the evening gets late
And I am alone with you
The time is right your perfume fills my head, the stars get red
And oh the nights so blue
And then I go and spoil it all, by saying something stupid
Like: I love you

Come here.....

Hey Come back here
Where you stood so near

Come hear where you held my hands
While I was walking on slope
Come hear where I looked into my eyes
while you stood for things to happen with hope

Come here where you sat down on the bench
While I was busy clipping my hair
Come here where I sipped coffee all day
while you sat planning for a play

Come here where you promised me with dreams
While I kept narrating more and more
Come here where I cuddled into your arms.
While you kept kissing me on everywhere

Come here where we wandered in nights
While clouds watched us
Come here where I said You and I ,I and you
While you said I am falling in love more with you

But One day I heard you say something

That something meant everything other than you.
That night you walked leaving me completely incomplete

That something meant letting go off all I ve held onto
That night you undressed me from my desires
That night you welcomed your real you

Facts on H4 to H1

Discussions,Forums, your own employer might lead you to confusions.Even after a months research on all the facts to be known for H1 stamping ,I have concluded to go back to my home country for stamping.

Most common issues would be what documents might be needed for further processing. There are forums which might help you but as you go on reading just to update yourself with others situation, you kinda get messed up with yours.

I have called number of friends on who are on H1,who might do H4 to H1 and there employers even.If the applicant was in US on H4 and then he applies for H1, he can go for a COS and then the SSN.As you do your COS ,you will be issued your I94 against your H1.You would be already having with I797A and I797B as well.

If the applicant was in India while he applied for H1,it gets approved ,you arrive US on H4 ,then if you want to change it to H1,book your tickets to India for H1 stamping. The I94 you got is against your H4 and not H1.You will be issued only I797 .Do not wait for I797A, you wont get it.
  • I 797C is just another copy of I797B
  • I797B has I 94 number against H4
  • I797 A has I94 number against H1.
  • Canada and Mexico are not the options to go for stamping anymore. They may not be able to check your academic records

Insomonia

So much depth in these words

When I am with you, we stay up all night.
When you're not here, I can't go to sleep.
Praise God for these two insomnia's !
And the difference between them.

Depression drvies me again: Help needed

Its been a month I moved to US to join my husband thinking its the most beautiful journey ahead .But now its the depression I am going through that has kept me worrying.I am unable to find reasons for it or is it that I am very particular of the kind of happiness , the way I want it or is it the unsatisfying daily routine.

Its has been 4 years of busy life for me having no time for myself.I literally had my calender marked for every tiny task I had to carry. But now I just keep counting days and a relief every evening of spending one more day and fear of the next morning.

New friends usually drop at home but rather makes me uncomfortable and I go back to those days when I laughed and shared jokes with my friends.

Its been 2 months I left my previous job in India and now finding another here. The entire stock of Advil and Tylenol are in my tummy.I am afraid to look at the pharmacy section now.

The below symptoms have been from past 40 days and now unable to pretend smiling too.
  • I don't get sleep.I am awake till 2 in the night
  • Occasionally I sleep but get disturbed slightest noise
  • I often keep thinking about my past ,being with my friends, being in Bangalore
  • I end up having only one meal usually at night
  • I eat more for dinner so that I go to bed quicker and have have sound sleep
  • Hooked up with Internet, chatting but ignore everybody
  • Feel helpless rather jealous when others are very happy
  • My active life is zeroed down.
  • Come Sunday I was out to city in the morning and back in the late evening in Bangalore
  • The alien place has gulped me with no choice to escape.
  • I usually don't want to come out my blanket and see whats happening around.
  • My pillow is wet and stained with tears.I don't know - I cried?
  • My husband has stories and names I screamed last night.
  • I dream twice every night and its all about my childhood, my friends in school, college ,at office
  • I am usually on the streets of Bangalore, that's the only time I am happy.
Now I really need a helping hand to come out this.

Hmmm..A Anniversary to start with :-)

Reason to celebrate a day-Our engagement. As I recall the day of my engagement,I was the saddest creature on earth. Not because I wasn't happy, but I wasnt unhappy either ,kinda mixed feelings.Had met him on Wednesday and gosh,I decided to marry him by Friday .

I remember sipping cups of tea throughout day and night to respond his family.I wouldn't have been awake so much any day of life before.I could hear my heartbeat echo in my room.

I even walked through the memory lane past three years, the coffee days I sat with Amit,Rajeev,Shashi,Prakash,Shashidhar, the streets I walked with Sanjeev,Jai,Vishwa, the conversations I had with Praveen,Santosh,Siddu and so on .Mind you I can list till 51

Now that I have settled down I sink in my couch and think...

Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Maine Khayal Aata Hai,
Agar usse Shadi Karti toh Kya Hota,
Agar usse Shadi Karti toh Kaha Hoti.....

Tits bits of life

Life is a journey that must be travelled no matter how bad the roads and accommodations." -er Goldsmith

The real winners are not those at the top but those who have come the farthest over the toughest roads. Your victory may never make the headlines. But you will know about it, and that's what counts." -Ernest A. Fitzgerald

Boredom or Bedroom

Well like any other housewife rather say typical Indian housewife ,two weeks passed in US ,the only entertainment is cooking but somehow I do not want to spoil my husbands eating habits. So I try to keep my skills hidden. Weekend passed off with his friends yes I emphasize on saying "his friends" for few more days.I was like a one innocent Desi Gaay which flew here trying to know who the hell is Sarah palin ,McCain ,yes I did heard of Obama.
Why is US painted Red and Blue,History behind Halloween and so much of bla, bla....pretending to laugh at their UIC campus stories and while they winked ,I would nicely sink into my memories a fortnight before when I sat at Coffee day at Rajajinagar with Vani,Archu,Nitin and Mahanth (Shruti and Satish -We missed u both ).
They bid me reminding about all the naughty things we did at college,Congratulated Mahanth for his Wedding on Oct 30th 2009,Wished a joyfully recovery to Vani.Hey I wished you broke your wrist while hitting a boy.Good luck to Nitin and pinky :-). Archu ,hope your jobs hops has come to an end.
Well....the real life has begun and right now its only Boredom or Bedroom.

ಹೊಸ ಬಾಳು - ಹೊಸ ಮಾತು

The first week in Fareign (as referred at homeland) wasn't a new experience except that I shared every second of my life with my beloved(believe me ,I have done a thesis on Beloved and the next one would be "Ghost of beloved ").Jet lag proved to be good reason and only opportunity to keep myself away from cooking and thankful it really lasted long.

ಹೊಸ ಬಾಳು
ಹೊಸ ಮಾತು

ಸೊಗಸಾದ ಸಂಜೆ

ಏನೇನೋ ಆಸೆ
Offcourse my Boredum buster for the day were some kannada songs.

Adieu to Wipro, Banglore

Time to part away , Time to just cherish all the good times. Its sad to leave a company which actually changed you every possible way. Money ,Knowledge, Independence and mostly the comfort of working with people you know and you don't know.It wasn't hard then to leave my previous company,Reliance Infocomm. The distance to office at Peenya,Bangalore and no girl environment forced me to leave and hunt for new company. The excitement at Wipro was getting back to all my old friends from my previous company,my college friends and so many new contacts.

Mostly when a person is in IT and away from house after a long time,Its the Independence and Money which are mostly enjoyed apart from work.I worked for money,my interest in Telecommunication and moreover in Wipro, life was never limited to work. From here I take the credit of doing 911 Testing project which I have discussed hours with my father.I am thankful that it gave me the opportunity to work with Nortel .

They are hell lot of activities which you can do at Wipro without much interference in your Work.I even met a few alliances here in campus at coffee breaks. The steaming Idlis and Vada`s in Kamat@Wipro is something which I ll never get to taste again.I may not act as crazy when I had Hot Jalebi`s and Samosa for breakfast after a wait of 35 mins early morning in cafeteria I may not take 4 o'clock shuttle to silk borad to watch a movie at forum and the list continues...

People who knew me from the first day at are not around me.They either changed their teams, projects or at on site.My stay in Canada and absence at Wipro campus has drifted me a bit away from old friends as well.My personal life is calling me today I have to join my Husband in soon.

I put my papers on 10th Oct 08, and my last day is 17th.All my Wipro websites are blocked and worst, no access to mailbox..My AD password has been disabled.I am so sorry for everyone whom I could not even send a adieu mail.I just collected my Experience letter proudly from Sigma building. The last shuttle I take from Wipro....The last experience of heavy Bangalore traffic jam.Wipro will last in memory forever.....
PS:Craziest thing I ever done when I was at Wipro, found that a already met alliance is also in wipro, found his location akka desk ,called him to check if he is still intrested but I could never meet him again though :-)

Souvenir

Your touch on the couch is still felt.
Yet your fingers lingering on her now.

Sweetness of ur sweat is still crisp.
Yet you keep her busy with your nuisance.

Your voice and shadow still haunts me.
Yet she shyes away on your humour.

You were very near to me.
Yet made me realize there are peoplewho meant a lot more than me.

Fear of you going away still burns
because I know sometimes Your heart beats only for me.

goose bumps still pop out at the very thought of u holding me,
holdng me so tight ,pinching me only your hands can reach.

Those same old brown eyes ,where I see only lust ,
yet I wasnt the prey.unhappy I was .I had to chase you.

You escaped with speed, speed so high,
yet with breaks in my life.

Now that I have met you again, lets not continue the same old game.
let two hearts meet, with body and soul in play,in rythm

While I leave you ,treasure me with a Souvenir

English Revised

Did you know "Verb" is a noun.

How can you look up words in adictionary if you can'nt spell them?

If a word i misspelled in a dictionary, how would we ever now?

Is there any other word for a Synonym.

Why does "cleave " mean both split apart and stick together?

Why is that no word in English language ryhmes with mouth, orange, silver or purple.

Why do we recite at a play and play at a recital.

If two mouses are mice and two louses are lice, why arent two houses hice.

Words I follow

Yeah my words of wisdom

"Chase yourself , you will win someday"

Indeed these words make a lot sense to those who are alraedy chasing their dreams in the right essence. And I am already running parallel to them

Visit to Belleville

I could visit Belleville before I leave Canada. The feeling was good once me and Sourav started from Ottawa. Our initial plan was to leave at 4 pm and reach airport to pick the car.But I guess we had a tough time in winding up our work at office by at least 6,reached airport by 7:15 pm,straight ahead to Future shop.I could not resist buying Sansa for my bro.Finished the groceries, packed our bags....our stomachs had already started growling ...had to barge into a -already closed doors Taj India at 10 pm.Though we were served kids .aa jao beta, jaldee jaldee order beta..bolo kya khana (dopeher ka bachaa kuchaa sab hai). We ordered a Chicken Biryani and Veg Curry.arey beta Veg curry ke saath baingan ka bartha bahut acha combination hai ....it was served in few mins and no time was wasted before we gulped it.Left Ottawa at 11 pm and holy...we reached bellville at 2 am .The joy entering into Belleville was like a kid meeting her mother....woh gali woh chuaraha...The next girls were busy watching the boys cook...Maan gaye ladko ka bhee jawaab nhai ha! The menu was better than the last nights dinner
postho -a bengali dish
Chicken curry
Dahi baingan-oriya dish
Basmati chawal
Rasgulla
and a hungry stomach
Around 4 pm we left for Lake on the Mountain followed by a Must shopping in Quinte mall.Later at 8 ,we picked up Shakti and headed back towards Ottawa only to wake up for a Bungee adventure.

Lottery :65,000 H1-B visas for 2009

9 April 2008
WASHINGTON: With US immigration authorities getting enough applications for H1-B visas coveted by Indian IT professionals within a week, a random lottery will pick the 65,000 lucky winners for 2009. The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on Tuesday it had received by Monday enough petitions for the 65,000 H-1B visas available for fiscal year 2009 starting October 1, 2008 to meet the "congressionally mandated cap". The government agency, which extended the acceptance period to five business days to improve the fairness of the process, also announced it had received enough applications for the 20,000 H1-B visas allocated for the "advanced degree" exemption limit to meet the mandated cap. The applications received will now be subject to a random lottery process for selection to determine which individuals can start working at their sponsor companies.
Industry groups that support revising the H1-B programme say this year's process mirrored last year's, in which the USCIS received more than 123,000 applications in less than two days.
And Imagine how would you feel if you are one among these to get through the lottery.
I am celebrating ...........

Gone are those Days!!!

bullet-proof chappatis, bread and jam
the local bakery, a luxury.

5 girls in an auto to the nearest cinema hall popcorn,
coke and the total divided by 5 to the last 50 paise.

waiting for calls from home between 7 to 9.30 pm
and for money every month with a short note from dad to study well and to use money prudently.

girls on the steps
applying henna on each other and all kinds of face packs.
burning the midnight oil and feeling hungry
dinner being served too early.

sneaking into friends' rooms with a torch after the curfew hours searching for food.
trying to bring everything from home during vacations,
needle to pen and a lot of eatables.
attacking the supply of foods of friends who visit home frequently.

counting the days to go home only 74 days left to go home
washing clothes every weekend on the stone slabs
singing the latest hits at the top of our voices.

perfecting the art of mango plucking and the escape from the warden
stealing vegetables from the garden and cooking it using candles.
maggie, soaked it hot water wai-wai straight from the pack.

christmas secret friends and small notes to her with the left hand.
sharing a room with two more people yet respecting their space.

accepting people from different places, languages and habits.
going to barista and coffee day outlets once in a blue moon and feeling cool.
walkman and audio cassettes
rewind and forward with a reynolds pen to save battery.
circulating novels reading MBs in candlelight sleeping off
while waiting for the love scene
waking up to see my bed on fire going panicky and waking up roomie in the lower bunk pouring water, dipping the pillow in the sink to put the fire off calling friends from other rooms and sharing the tragedy laughing out loud on seeing the third room mate blissfully asleep amidst all the commotion.

* To laugh until it hurts your stomach.

* To find mails by the thousands when you return from a vacation.

* To go for a vacation to some pretty place.

* To listen to your favorite song in the radio.

* To go to bed and to listen songs while it rains outside.

* To clear your last exam.

* To receive a call from someone, you don't see a lot, but you want to.

* To find money in a pant that you haven't used since last year .

* To laugh at yourself looking at mirror, making faces.

* Calls at midnight that last for hours

* To laugh without a reason.

* To accidentally hear somebody say something good about you.

* To wake up and realize it is still possible to sleep for a couple of hours.

* To hear a song that makes you remember a special person.

* To be part of a team.

* To watch the sunset from the hill top.

* To make new friends.

Monster snowfall chasing Ottawa

  • Ottawa - It is preparing to be perhaps the largest single day snowfall in the history of Ontario. With a record 50 centimeters in the forecast, the snowfall being anticipated could break the previous single day snowfall record that was set for the province in 1947.

  • On the roads, the Ontario Provincial Police responded to nearly 600 collisions
Saturday afternoon's winds were expected to churn at up to 60 km/h, Environment Canada cautioned.

  • The city had 500 snow-removal machines on the streets and asked residents to steer clear of them as much as possible.

  • City tows car blocking snow clearing, offers help to find them. Ottawa residents were asked to cal 311, if they could not find where they parked their car

  • 280 flights cancelled at Pearson airport.

  • About 200 trucks are arriving every hour, 24 hours a day, to dispose of snow cleared from city streets.

  • Over the next week, and the city has opened five new dumpsites to handle the overflow of snow.

  • Toronto will have spent $45 million of the $67 million budgeted for snow removal for all of 2008 — with more storms expected before spring arrives.

Free India

"Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high; Where knowledge is free; Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls; Where words come out from the depth of truth; Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection; Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit; Where the mind is lead forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action- Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake." "GEETANJALI"-Rabindranath Tagore

Search Ends, Life Begins...

Life's most beautiful phase arrives, the hunt comes to an end on 25th Nov 2007, just to be more pleasant. It took me 42 months for a journey plan, a journey of two, where the maps could match or could differ yet reach the same destination.Wrong turns, or to get lost, or to find ourselves on an unplanned detour not on our map.But we decided to share our maps well before to get back on the right route.

Yes I have found my soul mate.He has taken me away to nourish my dreams and build new ones.Commitments, excitement, Fun, Laughs and Romance is in the air.
